A Note about Mommy's Hood's, "I am My Sister's Keeper Initiative":

I have been reluctant to discuss this publicly, but as the founder and executive director of a nonprofit organization, I feel it's important to address an ongoing issue with a business partner. In October 2023, our organization launched a fundraising initiative to support a a mother who tragically lost her child to Trisomy 13. To enhance our fundraising efforts, we collaborated with Benevity, a corporate matching agency, with the intention of doubling the donations received.

However, due to an oversight on Benevity's part, the disbursement of funds, initially scheduled for the end of November, was postponed to December 6. Regrettably, as of now, nearly a month past the revised date, our organization, Mommy's Hood, has still not received the funds.

While we recognize and value the critical role organizations like Benevity play in amplifying the impact of nonprofits, we are disheartened by the handling of this particular matter. Despite our persistent and diligent communication with Benevity to resolve this issue, it remains unaddressed. We have repeatedly confirmed that the funds have not been received and have ensured that our banking information is accurate and up-to-date.

The purpose of bringing this issue to public attention is not to cause embarrassment or to criticize Benevity unfairly, but rather to urge a timely resolution. We believe that transparency and accountability are vital in our sector, and we hope that by sharing our experience, we can facilitate a prompt and satisfactory resolution for all parties involved.
