Do you ever have days when you want to break that "dig deep" button? You know what I'm talking about, right? To quote Brene Brown in her book "The Gifts of Imperfection:"
"It's the button that you rely on when you're too bone tired to get up one more time in the middle of the night, or do another load of laundry, or catch one more plane, or return one more call, or to please/perform/perfect the way you normally do even when you just want to flip someone off and hide under the covers."
The dig deep button is a secret level of pushing through when we're exhausted, overwhelmed, there's too much to do, we're on the verge of breaking so we fake it till we make it...but we don't focus on our own self-care. We soldier on, push through, suck it up.
If you're like me, your DIG button is having the reverse effect on you. Instead of making you more productive, you are probably operating in a fog and stressing yourself out. So, redefine what your DIG button means. For me, it just became:
🔶D: Do Me- whatever I decide that's to be: a movie, a walk, etc.
🔶I: Initiate "self care" mode
🔶G: Go do something mindless
✔️Yes, it's a mindset shift. And yes, it's going to take some work to remember to engage the RIGHT DIG BUTTON. But in the craziness of today's world, you have to own your self-care.
💡How will you define your DIG button?
