One of our most valued providers is our nurse practitioners. They provide primary care to our members, educate and counsel them, diagnose their conditions, and prescribe medications. A profession for 56 years, the nurse practitioner role arose from a need for more physicians—especially in the Medicare and Medicaid space.

According to the CDC, 37.3 million Americans have diabetes, but only 28.7 million have been diagnosed. 8.5 million people who have diabetes have not been diagnosed and do not know it. Diabetes is also a very costly illness, with over $245 billion spent each year on medical expenses.

American Diabetes Month addresses this issue: informing people about the signs, treatments, and warnings of untreated illness. Additionally, diabetes disproportionately affects neglected populations, and AbsoluteCare is dedicated to helping our members be more informed.
