In Chinyanie, a rural village in southern Malawi, the nearest safe water used to be half a kilometer away — and the river was the dangerous shortcut.
What changed it: a solar-powered pump, a raised tank, and three water points built by Compassion International and a local church, with the community’s own hands helping raise it.
Women like Lydia now spend their mornings farming instead of hauling. Children are in school more. And the tap is open to anyone who walks up.
This is one of 22+ water projects Compassion has helped local churches build across Malawi.
