Common Ground Cycling

Thank you Kurt for tipping me off about the very cool Colorado High School Cycling League racing weekend taking place this Sat/Sun out at the Fountain Valley School of Colorado.

This is the first time a race weekend has been held here in the Colorado Springs area, so it's a big deal for these high school racers. 9 teams from the Pikes Peak region will be represented!

If you've never been to this very unique school property, this would be an excellent opportunity as along with the racing they'll be giving tours of the campus. Google it and you'll see why this is cool.

FVS PARTNERS WITH COLORADO LEAGUE TO HOST FIRST-EVER MTB RACE ON A SCHOOL CAMPUS IN THE FRONT RANGE Through a partnership with the Colorado High School Cycling League (Colorado League), Fountain Valley School (FVS) is pleased to host the inaugural Lazy B Ranch Rally high school mountain bike race from Friday, September 20, through Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Have you heard about the grand opening of Stompin' Groundz on Saturday at 9:00am? It is the new, cool coffee house and community gathering space in Southeast COS and the dream of our dear friend Juelz Morse-Ramirez.

I've told her for 4 plus years that I was going to lead the first bike ride from her new cool coffee house and I woke up today and thought you know, I should lead the first fun bike ride TO her new space.

Juelz worked with Brandon when he opened up the Switchback Coffee Roasters Hillside location, so it is just too fitting to use that as a starting point. I will be there early to grab a little breakfast and a bit of coffee and I plan on rolling out at 8:00am for a relaxed ride down the PIkes Peak Greenway and up the Sand Creek Trail to arrive just before the 9:00am grand opening time.

It's supposed to be a nice Summer day, you should go for a coffee ride ;)

My plan is to hang out for the festivities for a bit and if there are a few folks that would like to do a Tour de Southeast spin and get a lay of the land for bike infrastructure, art, possibly pet a few dogs and feed a horse or two, I'd say we should seize the opportunity to do the first official ride from Julie's place :)

(This is not an official "event", there won't be a Facebook event page. I'm just inviting some friends who like to ride bikes to go for a casual ride to support a dear friend who has held tight to her dreams and has had a community rally around her in support. If you'd like to join us, I'd love to pedal a few miles with you.)
