Hiked up Herman's Gulch yesterday, a very popular trail west of Denver. Had the trail to myself headed up, by leaving the trailhead at 330 am. On the way down, the crowds had arrived. Here's some views from the upper portion of the trail.

Another sad and infuriating day in Colorado. This is the iconic meadow that was featured in the John Wayne classic 'True Grit'--one of the iconic locations in Colorado, and a favorite with photographers. It is likely being burned by the Gold Mountain fire, one of several mega-fires ravaging the state right now, the direct consequence of extended drought and warmer weather. I hope it survives, but not looking good...😔

the fox in our backyard is a little too tame, seemed totally unfazed by me taking pics while napping under a tree yesterday...
