Counterweight Theatre Lab
12/12/2024
From a friend:
"You're invited to a play reading group!
We read a play out loud together in a relaxed and social way, engage in discussion, and enjoy our theater community. No preparation required. Everyone who wants to read will get a chance to do so.
Our first script is the hilarious absurdist play The Bald Soprano by Eugene Ionesco. Firefighters, multiple people named Bobby Watson, train travel, and poetry collide in this fast-paced play that is one of the most performed plays in France.
Time: Sunday, December 15th at 6:30pm
Location: Boucher Art and Stage, 328 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903
Suggested donation of $5 – 10 to support the space and snacks/drinks. Light refreshments provided. Bring a device to access a script on if possible, and we recommend to download the script in advance if you can."
This is not a Counterweight event, but we'll be there to help support theatre in our community! See you there.

Sometimes you schedule a show's opening night several months in advance, and then there's an outrageous snowstorm on that night. If you know that feeling, you'll understand when we say that due to the weather, the performance of The Copper Cup tonight (Nov 8 ) is canceled. If you've purchased tickets for tonight, expect an email soon with information about rescheduling.
Stay safe and warm, and we'll see you tomorrow night!

"I think that memory is fragile, or malleable, and when people are 5 or 6 we’re really creative and imaginative and sometimes that stuff can stick with you."
Halloween is over, but the spooky season doesn't have to be! Next week, come see a spooky, thoughtful story about memories, ghosts, and what happens when we confuse those things when The Copper Cup opens!

"Hey, let me ask you something. It feels safe to bring up now. You know, we’re adults, it’s just you and me. What’s the deal with Uncle Gray?"
"Who the hell is Uncle Gray?"

Like a lot of other horror, The Copper Cup does involve mental illness, but it's not in an exploitative or sensational way. The show is about the ways that "the interior chaos" we all experience, whether neurotypical or otherwise, shapes how we all take in and move through the world.
Tickets are available now!
