From the Terrazzo to the pool, every challenge during Basic Cadet Training is designed to develop future leaders. During aquatics screening, Basic Cadets demonstrate confidence, resilience, and teamwork as they continue their journey toward becoming members of the Cadet Wing and future Air Force and Space Force officers.

One of the first things Basic Cadets learn is drill. From facing movements and proper saluting to marching in formation, these foundational skills help build discipline, precision, and teamwork. On any given day, you'll find groups of Basics on the Terrazzo practicing and refining these techniques as they begin their journey at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The USAFA class of 2030 participates in a swearing in ceremony where they took the Oath of Office in front of their families.

Appointees arrive at the U.S. Air Force Academy on In-processing Day, also known as I-Day, marking their first step in their journey toward becoming a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force.
