We’re now 4 months into Amelia’s Toothpillow | Your Virtual Airway Dentists journey, and I wanted to share an update on her progress!

We started the program because I was concerned about Amelia’s snoring, restless sleep, mouth breathing, nasal-sounding speech, gummy smile, and visibly deep bite.

Today, her symptoms are all improving, and we’re seeing encouraging changes in her dental and oral development 👏

What I’ve loved most is how SIMPLE the process has been.

As a busy mom and pediatric nurse practitioner, I knew several of Amelia’s symptoms might be connected, but I didn’t want to spend months trying to coordinate multiple appointments and piece everything together myself. 😵‍💫

Toothpillow combines an oral appliance, myofunctional exercises, progress tracking, and expert support into one streamlined program. Everything is guided through the app, making it incredibly easy to stay consistent.

No driving across town.
No juggling multiple providers.
No wondering what to do next.

Looking back, I wish I had known sooner that Amelia’s breathing, sleep, speech, and dental development concerns might all be connected. The earlier we recognize these patterns, the more opportunities we have to support healthy growth and development.

🔍 Some signs in kids that would make me want to explore further:
• Mouth breathing
• Snoring or noisy sleep
• Sleeping with the mouth open
• Crowded teeth or a narrow palate
• Speech concerns
• Chronic congestion
• Restless sleep or frequent waking
• Dark circles under the eyes
• Difficulty focusing or behavioral concerns

If you’d like to learn more, Toothpillow offers a FREE evaluation. 🎁 Use my code RJAYROE to upgrade to a free *video consultation with a trained Airway Dentist (a $50 value) and receive $200 off treatment if recommended.

Found a tick on your child? Take a deep breath.

I created this guide to help parents approach tick bites with confidence—taking concerns seriously without creating unnecessary fear.

Most tick bites do not result in illness, but knowing what to watch for can help you decide when it’s time to check in with your pediatric provider.

In this carousel, you’ll learn:
✔️ What to do immediately after finding a tick
✔️ When a tick bite may benefit from early evaluation
✔️ Which symptoms should prompt medical attention
✔️ How to identify the most common disease-carrying ticks in Tennessee

🌿 Optional bite-site support

Some families choose to use supportive measures such as a cold compress, calendula, drawing salve, or Ledum after a tick bite. While evidence is limited, these options may help soothe local irritation for some children. They are not a substitute for medical evaluation when concerning symptoms are present.

Save this post for future reference and share it with another parent—it may come in handy this summer. ☀️

❤️ Questions about a recent tick bite? We’re happy to help.

Skip the waiting room. Get thoughtful pediatric care from home.

Teaching moderation, not perfection. 🍦

One of the most important nutrition lessons I’m teaching my daughter is that treats are treats.

In our home, we talk openly about nutrition. Some foods nourish our bodies and help us grow, develop, and feel our best. Other foods are mostly for enjoyment.

Both can have a place—but they don’t have the same nutritional value.

An occasional visit to our local ( 🤍) has become one of our favorite summer traditions. My daughter loves choosing her flavor and toppings, and I love watching her excitement over something so simple.

When we go, I don’t hand her a giant bowl and tell her to go crazy. I help her choose an appropriate portion and a couple of toppings.

Just like we set limits around screen time because balance matters and bedtime because sleep matters, we guide our children around food because health matters.

Boundaries and guidance help children develop healthy habits.

That’s parenting.

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is raising kids who understand nutrition, enjoy treats, and learn that moderation is a skill they’ll carry with them for life.

What’s your family’s go-to summer treat? ☀️🍦

This is one of those simple safety tips that can genuinely make a difference.

Bright neon swimsuits are much easier to spot underwater than blues, grays, whites, or darker colors—especially in busy pools, lower light conditions, lake water, river water, or murkier environments.

Even in lighter pool or ocean water, some colors disappear surprisingly quickly once submerged.

No swimsuit replaces supervision, swim lessons, or water safety precautions…
but visibility matters.

As summer pool days, lake weekends, river trips, and beach vacations start back up, this is worth keeping in mind when shopping for little ones 🤍

My favorite high-visibility colors:
✔ neon orange
✔ neon pink
✔ neon yellow
✔ bright lime green

Harder-to-see colors:
✖ blue
✖ gray
✖ white
✖ darker/muted tones

Save and share this for summer swim season ☀️

Impetigo is a very common bacterial skin infection in children, especially during warmer months when kids are sharing towels, touching everything, scratching bug bites, playing sports, and spending time at daycare or camp.

The good news?
Most cases respond well to treatment when addressed early.

Depending on the severity, treatment may include:
✔️ prescription antibiotic ointment
✔️ oral antibiotics
✔️ supportive skin care
✔️ hygiene measures to help prevent spread through the household

There are also some simple holistic/supportive measures that can help support healing and help reduce recurrence in kids who seem to struggle with impetigo repeatedly—and I’m always happy to discuss those during visits as well.

Most impetigo cases can be evaluated quickly through a virtual visit from home ✨

✔️ Same-day appointments available
✔️ Virtual pediatric care across Tennessee
✔️ In-home visits in Collierville & Germantown
✔️ Mississippi virtual care coming soon

Flu season + holidays = lots of questions 🤍

I created this simple, saveable Flu Quick Guide for Kids to help families know:
✨ what’s normal
✨ what to expect day by day
✨ when kids are contagious
✨ when antivirals like Xofluza may be worth considering
✨ and when to check back in

Most healthy kids will feel pretty rough the first couple of days, then gradually improve — and that’s exactly what we see every year. This guide is meant to reassure, not scare, and to help you navigate school, travel, and holiday gatherings with confidence.

💡 Tip: Save this post so you can reference it quickly when sickness hits.

Merry Christmas, y’all! ✝️

When our little ones don’t feel their best, comfort truly is everything!

Recently, my little girl was down with a cough + sniffles, so here’s exactly what we used to gently support her body:
✨ Cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus essential oil
✨ Lolleez throat soothing pops
✨ Sniffle Ease essential oil roller
✨ Chestal homeopathic cough support

Small things, BIG relief.

I’ve organized all my favorite kid-friendly remedies and sick-day tools for you inside my Amazon Storefront so you never have to guess what products to reach for.

➡️ You can find my Amazon store link via the “Amazon Store” highlight on my profile page.

Hoping this makes your little one’s next sick day a bit easier to navigate! 💛
