So I started a timer at the gate and took I-24, the faster of the two routes. The other one cuts through the Tennessee River Gorge and it's stunning, but on a normal weekday, most people are taking 24.

Final time: 29 minutes door to door.

A few things worth knowing before you set your expectations:
Off-peak, you can do it in 20 to 25. Rush hour or an accident on 24 can stretch it well past 40. River Gorge Ranch tends to attract empty nesters and families who aren't tied to a tight school schedule, and the commute is a big reason why.
