James wanted to share this with us, the free world:

What is forgiveness? What exactly is the "power" of forgiveness and who has such?

Many people are familiar with the term forgiveness, and many people understand what it means. However, how people practice such depends on the circumstances in which one may 'choose' to give forgiveness.

According to one prosecutor in the state of Michigan, forgiveness can be divided into two concepts: the first is the simple "forgive & forget" notion for things considered minor, such as, if a child commits a wrong, or if someone ignorantly or unintentionally offends another. This form of forgiveness is often unconditonal and in some cases practiced altruistically.

The second concept of forgiveness is conditionally based. Such as in cases where someone intentionally or flagrantly offends another. Obviously the more serious the harm done the more conditioned the forgiveness will be based.

The Holy Bible prescribes a four part process of the conditional based forgiveness: First, one must confess, which in its natural meaning is simpling admitting a sin; Second, one must repent, which is a little deeper than simply confessing because one can confess but not be sorry, remoresful, or empathetic. Repentance is a recognition of the sin and agreeing that it was wrong; Third, one must be baptized into the Holy Spirit, which might be interpreted in a variety of ways by many different religions, but, in a modern understanding it may be explained as one going through a "process" of corrective measures. For example, if a person has an addiction--and not just drugs/alcohol because addictions come in many forms--one cannot simply be generically baptized by a preacher/priest and expect that to be sufficient. Instead, an addict must undergo extensive counseling/therapy in order to address the underlying problems which may have caused the addictions. I coin this process "cognitive maintenance" because, if an addict is serious about freeing ones self from addiction then one must re-cognize and understand that cognitive maintenance must be practiced for virtually the rest of one's life.

The cognitive maintenance practice may be applied to more than just addiction. It may also be applied to any type of "thinking" which one recognizes as wrong, criminal, and/or evil.

The fourth prong of conditional forgiveness is for one to "convert" to keeping the law, or the commandments. This is self-explanatory yet one should consider this to include a practice of cognitive maintenance in order to prevent converting back to the old ways, relapse, or other forms of backsliding.

Lastly, the "power" of forgiveness doesn't seem to be highlighted as much as it could. For if it were, then forgiveness might be more wide-spread. The power of forgiveness releases one from a wrong done, or sin. The more forgiveness is practiced, the more power it will entail. Everyone is capable of emitting the power of forgiveness. It isn't a form of power that can simply be harnessed and possessed; rather it must be emitted and extended toward others in order for its power to be effective.

Let us recognize when & where forgiveness is due. Let us practice forgiveness so that its power might be wider-spread. And for those in need of forgiveness, let us "guide them" so that they might learn the processes of attaining forgiveness when & where necessary.
Peace!

James Grabiec 93'/94' Trial Transcripts 11/11/2019

A transcript from James' trial which began in 1993 in which it was alleged he shot someone who suffered no injuries and needed no medical attention. The "victim" was nowhere to be found after this initial testimony. This case and the points system/habitual offender status are the reason he received LIFE imprisonment for his 2005 offense.
