West Point's Constitution Island, the Hudson River Valley Institute at Marist College, the 5th New York Regiment, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, and the Constitution Island Association will host its annual Reenactment Day on Saturday, 25 August 2012 for the West Point community and the general public from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 50 uniformed troops representing the American Revolution and the Civil War will perform an array of activities to include: tactical weapon demonstrations, inspections, formations, musket firings, artillery demonstrations, camp life, and drills. The event will feature non-stop activities depicting General Israel Putnam’s efforts to defend Fort Constitution in October 1777, the 235th anniversary of the Saratoga Campaign. This year's event will once again include a Civil War camp to remember the Hudson River Valley’s contribution to the Union as a part of the Sesquicentennial of the bloodiest of America’s wars, remembering President Abraham Lincoln’s secret visit to the West Point Foundry and West Point. Enter Constitution Island through the Cold Spring Metro-North Train Station I will include a few other things I may have forgotten. Launches will be Leaving WP every hour on the 1/2 hour starting at 9:30 AM. Last boat departs West Point @ 2:30 PM. The donation is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 16. Visitors need a photo ID to enter West Point and should schedule extra time for a security check, usually no more than 10-15 minutes. If not boarding at the South Dock at West Point, visitors should come to the Metro North train station in Cold Spring, NY. Parking is free and a shuttle bus will bring visitors on to the island on a 10-15 minute schedule
