Fahnestock winter park trail conditions report.

We will be open thursday from 9 to 430
Rentals of skis snowshoes and tubes will be available. Cafe open with hot food snacks and drinks. Snowshoe trails and Tubing hill are open.
All trails including lake are open. All trails are groomed except the lake . Track is being layed where possible. Conditions are starting to get firmer and are good for skate and classic skiing.
Lake is not being groomed at the moment due to slushing and frozen snow.

This past Tuesday, a few of our staff had the pleasure of helping out on an Eastern Fence Lizard survey in our park with . We appreciate all the work they do and look forward to working with them again!

The Eastern Fence Lizard is listed as a threatened species in the state of New York. The DEC monitors its populations throughout the state.

From all of us at Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, Happy 4th of July! It’s a beautiful day to visit the parks, therefore we encourage everyone to stay safe out there! Practice patience, as public spaces can get very crowded on a day like today. Drink plenty of water and don’t forget your sunscreen! The sun and heat can be brutal, so just be prepared while enjoying your holiday! 🇺🇸🦅

Part of our duties as staff at include making sure the trails remain clear of fallen trees. Here is a shot of one of our most experienced sawyers assessing and clearing a vine covered blowdown. All Park sawyers are trained and certified through Game of Logging.
