In this video, Christina is speaking to a group of parents about factors that need to be considered when communicating with children and teens who have sustained trauma. Learning how to communicate effectively with children and teens can be very challenging for parents, especially if they were never taught foundational communication skills for maintaining healthy relationships personally. Many who have experienced trauma have impaired emotional intelligence, affecting their ability to emotionally regulate, or to process or articulate their feelings effectively, which leads to poor communication and unhealthy relationship management.
