A funny but common surprise in kindergarten is that some children proudly tell us their name is “Sissy,” “Bub,” or another family nickname because that’s what everyone calls them at home! 😊 Take time to practice saying their first and last name and their parents’ names. It’s not only a school readiness skill—it’s an important safety skill, too.

⭐ Bonus tip: If they’ve mastered the important names, start helping them learn a parent or guardian’s phone number.
