This summer, I had to choose between two events.
I could go to Nashville for the AAJ conference, or I could go to Colorado for a retreat with other trial lawyers.

The AAJ conference is always a lot of fun. It's a great chance to catch up with a bunch of people, and the programming is great.

The Keenan Trial Institute, on the other hand, would give me:
• time to develop deeper relationships with other lawyers,
• a chance to get better at what I do,
• more work, and
• less fun.

I chose the less fun option. It was worth it.

Between our growth at Tittle & Perlmuter and spending time my wife and kids, making time to work on my craft as a trial lawyer is not easy. That said, I try to make it to three or four out-of-state, in-person seminars every year to focus on developing my trial skills.

They're not easy to make happen, but I have yet to regret one of those trips.

Have you figured out how to do it all?
If so, I'd love to hear your secret.

✏️🍎 Back to school means more traffic and more young pedestrians. Here are some tips for back-to-school driving safety:

❗Slow Down in School Zones: Always reduce your speed in school zones and be extra cautious during drop-off and pick-up times.

❗Watch for Pedestrians: Kids can be unpredictable. Be vigilant, especially near crosswalks, and be prepared to stop.

❗No Distractions: Avoid using your phone, eating, or any other distractions while driving, especially in school areas.

❗Obey School Bus Laws: Stop when a school bus has its stop sign extended. Children may be crossing the street.

❗Plan for Extra Time: With more traffic and stops, leave early to avoid rushing, which can lead to dangerous driving.

❗Be Extra Cautious in Parking Lots: Drive slowly in school parking lots and watch for kids darting between cars.

❗Use Crosswalks: Encourage kids to use crosswalks and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.

❗Follow Drop-off Procedures: Adhere to the school's drop-off rules to keep the flow of traffic safe and orderly.

Every decision on the road counts. Let's drive smart this school year! 🚸
