A year ago, Brad made a decision that changed his life. The journey wasn’t always easy, but he showed up day after day with courage, honesty, and determination. Through challenges, setbacks, victories, and growth, they kept moving forward.

One year of sobriety is about much more than not picking up a drink or drug—it’s about rebuilding relationships, finding purpose, learning to live life on life’s terms, and discovering who they truly are. It is proof that recovery is possible and that change can happen one day at a time.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Mike Degansky for speaking with our Lantern guys on Tuesday, June 9.

Mike generously shared not only his experience navigating recovery, but also the profound perspective of a father who lost his son, Dave Degansky, to an overdose. His honesty, courage, and willingness to speak about both recovery and loss left a lasting impact on everyone in the room.

Stories like Mike’s remind us of the importance of recovery, connection, and carrying the message to those who still suffer. We are grateful for his time, his wisdom, and his commitment to helping others.

It’s not luck that Kevin got sober. He got busy at the lantern when he came in. He was open-minded, willing and honest with his recovery. Action is Kevin’s middle name! He was a listening ear to many and approached his sobriety as a gift given each day.

He was defeated when he arrived and left a champion. Surrender to win- with everything!
