I’ve always looked for subtlety in my photography, whether it be with light or gesture. This was made in 2001 when I wanted to make a white on white portrait with and she brought the helmet she used when boarding horses. We improvised to make this picture that to this day is one of my favorites due to its mystery. 1 of 10 frames.

I’m proud to announce and share an exhibition of images that were displayed on the stage of Connor Palace in Playhouse Square for the annual meeting. Sponsored by Key Bank. 6 months in the making, we set out to make portraits of some the “Place.Makers” who are contributing to a better sense of place, which is the overall theme to ponder this year.
Why does place matter? Where have we been? Where are we now? Where are we going?
With a team of writers and organizers from the foundation we included 17 who are making a significant impact on the future of Cleveland. Without these people we wouldn’t have such a strong spine of the arts, literacy, architecture, or community to grow upon. The images have moved to the foundations office and more about the change agents will be shared in the near future.
It was an honor to be part of this years event in the background of keynote speaker architect and to have been able to listen to all he and the foundation does to better our surroundings.
