Creativity doesn’t always happen in the boardroom.

Sometimes the best ideas are born in stillness.
A quiet chair.
A cup of coffee.
A moment of reflection.

Over the years, I’ve learned that the most meaningful creative work starts not with talking, but with listening—
to people,
to the problem,
and to the pause in between.

Today, I’m spending time in that pause… thinking about new content, inspiring collaborations, and future projects that light me up.

Curious—where do your best ideas come from?

I care deeply about the kind of content I create—and the kind I consume. These are a few simple truths about what makes visual storytelling meaningful and effective, from my team at Pisces Rising Media.

What Makes Visual Content Actually Good?

In a world overflowing with video and imagery, good visual content still stands out. But what makes it truly effective?

Here are 5 key elements we always think about at Pisces Rising Media when creating content that connects:

1. Clarity of Message
If your viewer can’t tell what you’re trying to say within the first few seconds, they’ll scroll right past. Clear messaging beats clever editing every time.

2. Authenticity
People are craving real. Overly scripted or “too perfect” visuals can feel hollow. Audiences connect with brands and stories that feel human.

3. Strong Visual Framing
Good composition guides the eye and sets the tone. Whether it’s a tight interview shot or wide scenic B-roll, the frame tells part of the story.

4. Sound Quality
This might seem odd in a post about visuals—but if your audio is distracting, your message won’t land. Clean, clear sound is just as important as the image.

5. Purposeful Editing
Every cut should serve the story. Pacing, transitions, music—they all shape how your message is felt and remembered.

Creating quality content isn’t about having the fanciest camera. It’s about being intentional. And when you get these basics right, your content won’t just look good—it’ll feel right.

Got a favorite example of a video that moved you? Drop it below—we love a good story.

I love the Lenten season. I always find it to be a beautiful reminder about the possibility of growth. Often, we think of this season as a time to give up “sugar, alcohol, shopping… or whatever your vice may be.” This season, I would like to both give up what doesn’t serve me in a spiritually healthy way, but also incorporate actions that make me better. My question to you… If you honor the season of Lent, what are you giving up or incorporating into your life?

Note: these photos are from a beautiful little church my husband and I found while hiking in South Carolina last fall. It was an incredible, unplanned experience! We were surrounded by this peaceful scenery, and read from the Bible in the church. This isn’t something I ever thought I would find myself doing, but I loved everything about it and felt so connected to God, nature, and the bond I share with my husband. ❤️

When I launched my own production company, one of the projects we created combined my love of long format interviews with luxury vehicles — the series was called Driving Cleveland (started in 2016). In this episode, I interviewed a local sports reporter with an incredible voice! Today, he will become a contestant on NBC’s The Voice! Vote for Hayden Grove! The message of this post is that YOU CAN combine your passions/talents and turn them into a career. You don’t have to hate your work or stay stuck in something that doesn’t feed your creative spirit! But you will have to take chances on yourself and face uncertainty. I say, go for it!
