šLearn a powerful technique I learned this week about entering your parasympathetic nervous system modeāthe state of peace, rest, and calmābefore entering challenging situations like classrooms, meetings, or difficult conversations. We often are stuck in sympathetic mode (fight or flight) without realizing it. Try three practical methods to shift into parasympathetic mode: deep breathing exercises, expressive journaling (writing, not typing, for just two minutes), and singing or humming to activate your vagus nerve. This insight was encouraged by what I learned during week one of Harvard Medical Schoolās Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching, and I encourage you to try these techniques as they really do work through continuous intentional practice.
