Evolution Canine

Annie is a 3 year old Newfypoo who’s been displaying resource guarding towards her owner and canine housemates over food, toys, and other household objects. She is a couple days into her training and is already showing a willingness to be submissive and comply to a new structure. All of my dogs have always assisted in the training and behavioral rehab of other dogs and at about four months old Rowdy is stepping up and filling some big shoes.

“The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel”

This verse can be interpreted in a pretty straightforward manner as far as caring for our animals, but has always meant something different for me.

You see, things that may seem kind from the outside are not always what’s best for our animals. An example of this would be withholding proper punishment for dangerous or antisocial behaviors that would later leave our dogs stuck with an unfulfilling life, or no life at all.

I firmly believe when we take dogs into our life that it is our duty to become their stewards and parental figures. We have an obligation to show them right from wrong, steer them in a good direction, and provide discipline.

The wicked, with all their kindness, would prefer to cast doubt, shame, and have you thinking otherwise.
