On Saturday, Ms. Kama-Starr and Mr. Starr (along with over a hundred others) participated in the Cleveland Reads flash mob. Over the course of this entire year Ms. Kama-Starr has been serving as a CMSD representative for the citywide Cleveland Reads initiative. The goal is to encourage people from all over the city to read more. We hope that you’ll spend some time reading as well!!!

Can you believe that summer break is coming to a close? Was it us or did the summer fly by? We hope everyone had a wonderful summer full of memories with family and friends. We are so excited to see all our scholars' faces bright and early tomorrow morning in grades 1-8.

Please read some very important first week reminders below.

BUILDING OPENS
-Building opens each day at 9:15 am for breakfast.
-Breakfast is served from 9:15 am to 9:35 am in the cafeteria.
-Breakfast is FREE for all students. Lunch is also free.
-If your child will not be eating breakfast and does not ride the bus, we ask that you drop them off at 9:30 am. This allows us to get kiddos that are eating into the building first.
-All scholars will go through security daily which includes searching all bags and walking through a metal detector.
-Families will NOT be permitted to enter the building with their child. Staff will be both outside and inside to assist students make it to their new classrooms.

CARLINE ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
-Refer to the map attached regarding our drop off and pick up line.
-Drop off is a rolling line. Pull up, scholars jump out, and parents pull off.
-Scholars should be ready to go when pulling up to avoid backups.
-Families are NOT permitted to park their cars in the drop off line or on the perimeter streets. Parked cars cause traffic and back up issues.
-Follow all street signs for parking.
-Families MUST enter drop off line from the corner of Warren Road and Montrose Avenue.
-Cars will not be permitted to enter the drop off line from the stop sign on Glencliffe Road. (Please refer to the X's on the map.
-Do not block, park, or pull into any of the neighbors driveways.
-Do not block the cross walks.
-Families are not allowed to enter the parking lot during arrival and dismissal.
-Patience is the name of the game the first few weeks of school as everyone readjusts to our routine. Please leave in plenty of time to account for this transition.


DISMISSAL DETAILS
-Dismissal begins at 3:55 pm with bus riders and car riders.
-Car riders are ONLY those scholars whose families are in carline.
-Walkers are dismissed at 4:02 pm.
-Walkers are those scholars who either walk home, walk to a car in the neighborhood, or take their bike.
-Scholars in ALL classes (including Mr. Weaver, Ms. Manning, Ms. Tuleta, and Ms. Stringer) will begin dismissal at the same time.

ATTENDANCE
-Students are tardy at 9:36 am and must come to the office to get a pass.
-No students will be dismissed between 3:00 pm and 3:55 pm this is done not to disrupt our core instructional day.
-If you must pick up your child between 3:00 pm and 3:55 pm, call the office or send a message via Class Dojo to Ms. Davis prior to noon. She will ensure your child is in the office and ready to go.

DRESS EXPECTATIONS
We are a uniform free school.
Students are not allowed to wear any of the following items:
-Crocs, sandals, and slides
-Clothing that promotes violence, drugs, alcohol and profane language
-Cut off shorts or bathing suits
-Clothing that exposes the entire torso and/or exposed undergarments

Day two post:

Day #2 of RIVERSIDE ROCK STAR EDUCATOR APPRECIATION WEEK is in the books! Today, all of our OWLSOME educators enjoyed a fancy smoothie treat…rock star straw and all!

Day #1 of celebrating our ROCK STAR EDUCATORS was a success! They loved getting their backstage passes, strutting their stuff on the red carpet, and getting snacks from the Green Room! We will be rockin’ out all week. Please don’t forget to join in by sending thank notes or littles gifts of appreciation to your child’s favorite educator(s).
