Storytime: I was 22 years old when I met my paternal grandmother for the first time. It wasn’t at an extended family gathering or a very delayed pre-planned meet up. It was at the Holiday Inn in Mayfield Village, Ohio, and I was working behind the front desk. 👩‍💻

She recently sent me this text message, “How does one deconstruct a life?” It’s been echoing in my head for a few months now.

There’s more to this story… the in-between of these two instances, but there also isn’t much. She’s a person I don’t know well, but she’s in my DNA. Honestly, I’m still trying to decide how I feel about all of it, and you’ll all find out someday in a nonfiction piece I’m writing.
