Congratulations to Mike Liezert on his upcoming retirement after a remarkable 38 years at CBLH Design, including 28 years as Principal! Mike will officially retire on July 1st.

Board certified by the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA), Mike built his career on designing spaces to improve lives. His work made a lasting impact for leading healthcare systems such as MetroHealth, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, Canon Healthcare USA and the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

In Mike's next chapter, he is looking forward to spending more time in the great outdoors and with family and friends.

As we celebrate National Library Week, we’re reflecting on our community engagement sessions for the Thompson Branch of the , where conversations, ideas and local insight helped shape the future of this space.

One thing we heard clearly: it was important that the library feel like it truly belonged. Drawing inspiration from the area’s agricultural roots, the design reflects the familiar forms and materials of the surrounding barns, connecting the building to the township’s identity and landscape.

Shaped by community input from start to finish, this project goes beyond a library. It’s a space designed to reflect its surroundings and bring people together.

Last week, we had the opportunity to walk through the progress at Canon USA’s Comprehensive Imaging Resource Center. In collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, this exciting adaptive reuse project is transforming a 43,000 SF facility into a state-of-the-art imaging research hub.

Located in Cleveland’s Innovation District, this facility will support advanced imaging technologies including MRI, CT, molecular imaging, ultrasound and X-ray, while serving as the national headquarters for Canon Healthcare USA.

We’re proud to collaborate with Panzica Construction, Thorson • Baker + Associates (TBA) and IMEG to bring this complex and impactful project to life.

Sarah joins us as our Marketing/Administrative Assistant, bringing a background in digital marketing from Kent State University and certifications in Google Ads, Google Analytics and HubSpot Inbound Marketing.

New to the architecture industry, Sarah is especially excited to explore how thoughtful design comes to life through visuals, processes and storytelling - making complex ideas approachable and inspiring. She’s passionate about turning ideas into engaging digital stories that connect with audiences.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family. We’re thrilled to have her on board!
