Carpenter Bees, what are they? What do they do? Why should I be concerned?
We are all looking forward to spring. This includes the carpenter bees as well.
Carpenter bees drill into wood to lay their eggs. Carpenter bees prefer hardwoods such as cedar, redwood or cypress although they will attack pine and most other species of unpainted wood.
Male carpenter bees often frighten people with the aggressive behavior but since they do not have a stinger they are essentially harmless. Females do have a stinger but only use it if molested.

Mountain Top Pest Control carries carpenter bee traps for purchase. We are happy to hang them for you as well, if needed.

Please call with any questions or concerns you may have.

A lot of people think of insects as creepy crawlies. But did you know that there's a lot of beneficial insects that can be found right in your own backyard.
Orb-weaver spiders create large circular webs that catch a large amount of mosquitos.
Lady bugs eat aphids which live and feed on the plants in your flower beds.
Ground beetles eat a wide range of pesky insects like weevils and silverfish.
And of course butterflies! Butterflies are awesome pollinators! We wouldn't have all the beautiful flowers and yummy fruits and veggies without the pollinators.
See the comments for pictures of the beneficial insects listed here!
