Beyond Vacations

In anticipation of National Bucket List Day this Friday, April 24th, I've been asking, "What's On Your List".

Maybe another question is, "Why should I have a bucket list?"

Here's why I think having a list is an important life tool:

✴️Fosters intentional living by providing direction and motivation to pursue goals instead of living on autopilot. We can all be in control of our life story but it doesn't happen by accident. We have to align our actions with what truly matters to us.

✴️Boosts mental health through anticipation of meaningful experiences that bring us joy, create lasting memories, and provides a sense of accomplishment. Simple goal setting can push us out of our comfort zone and encourage healthy choices.

✴️Creates a sense of urgency. By acknowledging that we all have limited time on this planet, we are more likely to live in the present and not put off the things we want to do. Having a list is a way to decrease the likelihood of having regrets later in life.

I challenge all of you to make your list; an actual physical list. Write it out in a notebook, your journal, your notes app, or spreadsheet, just make the list.

Think about it. Reflect on it. Revisit it and Re-assess it. Then do it.

Obviously, I like to focus on travel experiences but your list should focus on whatever is most important to you.

And if you don't like the term "bucket list", call it whatever you want. The important thing is to take time to prioritize and document the things you want to do while you're here.
