🌑️ Extreme heat is more than just uncomfortable β€” it can be dangerous. A few simple steps can help you stay cool, stay healthy and beat the heat. 😎

πŸ’§ Hydrate Often:
Don't wait until you're thirsty. Carry a water bottle and sip throughout the day. If you're sweating a lot, pair water with a snack or a sports drink to help replace the salt and minerals lost through sweat.

🧒 Dress for the Weather:
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Be sure to reapply sunscreen regularly.

🌳 Find Shade (or A/C):
Take breaks indoors or in the shade, especially during the hottest part of the day.

πŸƒ Rethink Your Workout:
Move outdoor workouts to the early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler. Listen to your body and take breaks as needed.

πŸ₯΅ Know the Warning Signs of Heat-Related Illness:
Dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, heavy sweating, weakness, irritability, muscle cramps, decreased urine output, and cool, pale, clammy skin can all be signs of heat exhaustion. Move to a cool place, loosen or remove excess clothing, sip water, and cool your body with cold compresses or wash your head, face and neck with cold water. Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen or last longer than one hour.

Call 911 immediately if someone has a very high body temperature, confusion, slurred speech, seizures, loss of consciousness, or hot, red skin that may be dry or damp. These can be signs of heat stroke, a life-threatening emergency.

❗When in doubt, don't tough it out. If symptoms are severe or you're concerned someone has heat stroke, call 911 immediately.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Take care of yourself and each other. β˜€οΈ
