Selected in the second round of the 1979 NFL Draft, Bostic went on to enjoy a 10-year NFL career and was named to the 1979 NFL All-Rookie Team.

His outstanding Clemson career earned him a place on the University's Centennial Team in 1996, and he was inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame that same year. In 2002, he was also named to the ACC's 50th Anniversary Team.

July 15th Clemson Historic Picture And Trivia Question Of The Day: Women's Impact At Clemson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4OoREjKXCQ

Today’s photo, taken in 1960, captures two students strolling across campus with the iconic Tillman Hall rising proudly in the background.

Just five years earlier, in 1955, Clemson had officially transitioned from an all-male military college to a coeducational, civilian institution.

That means the young woman in this photo may have been among Clemson’s first generation of female students—true pioneers who helped shape the University’s modern identity.

Today, women make up the majority of Clemson’s student body, a remarkable reflection of how much the University has evolved over the past seven decades.

Trivia Question
Who was the first woman to earn a degree from Clemson?

A native of Lamar, South Carolina, Kirkland arrived at Clemson in 1987 and developed into one of the most dominant linebackers in school history. He earned All-ACC honors in 1990 and 1991 and was a consensus first-team All-American as a senior in 1991.

One of Kirkland’s signature performances came in the 1990 Gator Bowl, where he led Clemson’s defense in a dominant victory over West Virginia.

His crushing sack of Heisman Trophy finalist Major Harris became one of the game's defining moments.

Kirkland was named the game’s MVP as the Tigers sacked Harris four times and limited the explosive Mountaineer offense to just 237 total yards.

Kirkland finished his Clemson career with 19 sacks, 40 tackles for loss, and seven fumble recoveries.

He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft and enjoyed an outstanding 11-year NFL career, including nine seasons with Pittsburgh before finishing with the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles.

His honors include selection to Clemson’s Centennial Team in 1996, induction into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, and induction into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.

After retiring from the NFL, Kirkland returned to Clemson, earned his sociology degree in 2004, and served the university by coordinating minority recruitment in the Office of Admissions.

Trivia Question
Levon Kirkland held a unique distinction in the NFL during the 1999 season. What was it?
