Graphic Takeover: Helping Businesses Stand Out

When Jimmy Johnson launched Graphic Takeover in 2018, it wasn't the beginning of his career. It was the natural next step after spending years helping businesses build their brands. His journey began in 2003 in the promotional products industry, where he worked with nationally recognized companies while learning what makes a brand stand out.

As freelance design requests grew over the years, Jimmy realized many businesses, especially small and mid-sized companies, simply needed someone to guide them through the process. ""I noticed there were so many businesses that just didn't know how to market themselves," Jimmy said. "I knew I could help."

The name Graphic Takeover actually dates back even further. It started as a t-shirt website before evolving into the full-service branding company it is today. "People see color and pictures before they read," Jimmy explains. "Graphics really do take over everything you see."

Today, Graphic Takeover helps businesses create a consistent, professional brand through graphic design, printing, promotional products, and brand strategy. Whether it's designing a logo, producing brochures, creating branded merchandise, or developing a complete marketing campaign, Jimmy enjoys helping clients build a cohesive identity that aligns with their brand voice.

One of Jimmy's favorite parts of the job is finding creative solutions for his clients. Whether a business needs a complete brand refresh, eye-catching promotional products, or a last-minute print project, he enjoys thinking outside the box to make it happen. "All we want to do is help people," Jimmy says. "We look at the options, figure out what makes the most sense, and find the best solution for their situation."

Jimmy clearly enjoys his work. He shared that a speaker at a design conference challenged attendees to ask WTF when approaching each project, but not in the way you might think: "Where's the fun?" Jimmy shares, "It's something I still think about whenever I'm designing. How can we make this fun, unique, and different?"

For Jimmy, relationships are just as important as the products he creates. He serves on the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce Board and is active in Rotary, the Orion Historical Society, Local Business Network (LBN), and Connect Macomb. He's also the creator of the popular "Where Living Is a Vacation" page, where he shares local history that brings the community together.
