Blue Line Outfitters

It’s been almost a year since Adam and I fished for brook trout together. Life has threw us curveballs, sliders and an occasional knuckleball. We have gotten out only a few times together in the last couple of years. But today we took a day off. Grabbed the JP Ross S glass 6 foot and 5.5 fter and hit a North Georgia brookie creek. It was rough climbing this one, but the fish were there and we caught more than we deserved and a couple decent ones all on dries. There was some large mayfly drakes, yellow sally stones and some caddis when you crawled through the Rhodo. All the fish were fat as mud. I ( Hamp) exceeded the weight limit of a couple rotten trees here and there crawling over and Adam enjoyed that immensely. Enjoy the photos and go catch a wild fish. If you looking for that heirloom blue line rod, check out JP Ross rods and tell him his wild southern cousins sent ya.

Yesterday was a big day for a blue lining father. I have three kids and they all have caught trout since they could hold a zebco 33. They have been with me In multiple states fishing for native trout but never really in the game. My oldest is 16, driving and has his first job. He had the ability to miss school yesterday so I took him on his fjrst southern Appalachian Brook trout trip. He is big enough to crawl through the Rhodo and crawl up waterfalls and he quickly got the hang of his bow and arrow cast.
I told him there is no pressure for him to ever do it again but I really want them all to know what it is to catch a wild GA brook trout. Take a kid fishing, teach the next generation the joy of a blue line and a wild trout living where God meant it to be.
Side note. We got blessed with a pretty fresh unchewed deer shed as well.

When a fellow likes to blue line it doesn’t always have to be cold water and trout. This week I got an opportunity to fish a Hill country creek for a few hours and while I would like to show you an elusive Guadluape bass,I never saw one.
I did see some beautiful panfish and the JP Ross Muir rod fished great in warm water as it does in the mountains of the Rockies.
I love new species and I got my first long ear and orange spotted sunfish along with lots of redbreast and blue gills. If you get towards Austin TX area check out the fishing in the hill country.

It’s been a long fall and winter for us here at Blue Line Outfitters. We kinda went off the radar as Adam healed from a season ending ankle/leg destruction and surgery and life just happens.
As Spring weather breaks into the 70’s the desire to see a wild trout eat one of the March Brown mayflies , that have been hatching regularly, has been gnawing at us.
A couple days ago we had the chance to fish with friends from the wilds of Alabama. A GA trout slam was the goal. A tall order in one day with folks who haven’t experienced rhododendron and bow and arrow casting.
We gave it a shot and had several fish eat a dry fly. If you haven’t hit your first blue line yet this year it’s time. Find a couple of warm afternoons in a row and go throw some dries.
