My oldest daughter and I did some research and development on the next spicy pie I want to create. I cut a strawberry and put 1/2 of a jalapeño slice on it, and sprinkled a bit of cinnamon and sugar on them. Two flavors from opposite ends of the spectrum almost. It works, dont ask me how or why but it works. It may need a touch of lemon, lime, or even both. The next spicy pie will be a strawberry jalapeño. Now I have to come up with official names for these pies.

The second Lemon Jalapeño meringue was a complete success. It had a little bit of heat on the back end from the cayenne. Now we may try a strawberry Jalapeño!

As some of you know last Tuesday I made a lemon Jalapeño meringue pie. It was good but lacked a bit. Today I tried again and added 2 fresh Jalapeño and a 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne. I will cut into it tomorrow and see how it tastes. I git a bit of the what on the spoon after I put it in the pie crust. It has promise but I think I'll have to make another version with possibly a whole teaspoon of cayenne.

I had 2 more requests for apple pie this weekend. This one went to a couple that just started following our page on Friday July 3rd. I hope they enjoyed it at their 4th of July BBQ!

When your neice and nephew request pies for the family get together, you stay up late and make them! Another Cherry and an Apple will be ready by tomorrow!

Well its a little after midnight at the Kinstead kitchen and the jalapeño lemon pie is done. I was able to scrape the pan as the pie was baking and get a taste of the filling. It had good flavor but I didnt get any heat. Im hoping with the jalapeño bits in the pie that it may get some heat in certain bites. Im not ready to give up just yet, may sprinkle some cayenne between the lemon and meringue on the next one or stir some into the filling.

Some fellow food enthusiasts and I were talking at work. We were on the subject of "sweet / heat" like jalapeño jellies. One person said they had a jalapeño lemonade that was really good. Made me think about flavors and what I could do in pie form..

I will need some brave taste testers in the next few weeks if you're brave and think you can take some heat. Tonight will be a fun lemony experiment that I have high hopes for. I will post several pictures of the madness that ensues!!

I bet you can guess what's going on here tonight. This is the pie we gave away in the drawing. Probably my most request pie so far.

Had more cherries so I made another cherry pie. Seems to be the current house favorite. Wanted to try something other than lattice for the top.
