TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT: TWO OPPORTUNITIES!

We have two different opportunities to share with you this week.
1. This coming Saturday, March 28th, Work Day for Cutting Fleece
And
2. The opening of registration for this year’s 2026 Scrappy Sewing with Patty Fundraiser.

The first is a reminder that next Saturday, March 28th, our chapter is hosting a Blanket Work Day to prepare fleece for an upcoming school’s Make a Blanket Day event. Join us from 9 am to 2:00 ish pm at:

The River Church, 5546 Cincinnati Dayton Road, Liberty Township, OH, 45044

For this Blanket Day, we have a special need: folks to help us cut and prepare 130 yards of fleece. Tasks include: ·cutting 2 yard and 1 ½ yard segments, removing the salvage, cutting out 5-inch square corners. We will have scissors, straight edges, measuring tape and cutting mats. If you have a rotary cutter handle, we will have 45 mm blades. If you have an extra cutting straight edge that would help too.

Fear Not! We will also have:
*Cut Fleece for making no sew tied fringe fleece blankets.
*Cut Fleece hole punched for making no sew fleece blankets with crocheted edging.
*Pre cut kits for sewing quilt tops, and batting to go.
*Skeins of yarn for sharing.
*An assortment of cut cotton fabric for sharing.

Of course, we will be happy to receive any blankets Blanketeers have been working on this winter.

We are meeting at The River Church, 5546 Cincinnati Dayton Road, Liberty Township, OH. The church is set back from the road. There is a very visible sign at the road’s edge. The parking lot is spacious. Look for the doors labeled, West Entrance. The Main Entrance works, too. There are just many more steps up to reach the front door! We will offer a light refreshment and bottled water. You are encouraged to bring any other preferred beverage.

ALSO

The second is a reminder that The Scrappy Sewing with Patty 2026 fundraiser is now open for registration. 7 brand new patterns will be available for download beginning Saturday April 4-with a new one released every 2 weeks. This is a great way to obtain fun new patterns to use up your scraps of fabric pieces and sharing your new quilt tops with other Blanketeers.

Should you register, please identify Margaret Snider, chapter coordinator, and Southwest Ohio and Northern KY for our chapter to be credited with your $20 donation. Registration and details at: https://Projectlinus.org and look for “Click for more information” under the Scrappy Sewing with Patty graphic. Or: https://projectlinus.org/scrappy.php

NOTE1: Your receipt includes a lot of very important information for you, though please wait a day or two for your information to be input into system, before trying to log in.
NOTE2: Keep track of the email and password you use to register. You’ll use the same login to download the patterns every other week.

As Always: Check out our Blanketeer Gallery: this is our opportunity to acknowledge receipt of blankets/quilts from Shannon and Beverly. And to say thank you!

OCTOBER 2025 CHAPTER UPDATE - #1 of 5

Oh My Goodness! What happened to the month of October! If Traveling Linus had been with us this past month as he was in May, he would be so overwhelmed he would have to cuddle up in his own blanket to restore his composure! We had a Make a Blanket Day event (in September). We participated in the Thomas More University’s 5th Annual Saints Serve Day. We made several deliveries of blankets and were the beneficiaries of new blankets and quilts and some very generous donations of yarn and fabric!
It will take a few posts to catch up!

Here is our note on Saints Serve at Thomas More:

On Oct. 14, 2025, Thomas More University canceled all normal daytime classes and instead organized a day of service for its students, faculty and staff. Known as Saints Serve, this day continues a longstanding tradition at Thomas More of honoring its Catholic mission and identity through service.

The Southwest Ohio and Northern KY Project Linus Chapter is proud to have been invited to participate in this institution’s 5th annual Saints Serve Day.

It was a good day! The Thomas More Saints finished 69 blankets, a mix of teen and child sized no sew, fringe tied, fleece blankets! Most of these blankets will be distributed to one of our partner agencies who include a teen blanket in a backpack for youth disrupted from the home.

Thomas More University is a private Roman Catholic university in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. It serves about 2,000 full and part-time students. The university was founded in 1921 by the local Benedictine Sisters as Villa Madonna College.
