Winter Safety Tip: Beware of "Black Ice" Indoors

While black ice is commonly discussed for outdoor safety, it can also form indoors in entryways where snow and ice from boots melt and refreeze. This creates a nearly invisible hazard on tiled or smooth flooring.

Install "wet floor" signage to remind employees to exercise caution.
Use heavy-duty floor mats to trap moisture
Regularly mop and dry entryways during freezing temperatures.
Consider using anti-slip treatments or coatings on indoor surfaces prone to moisture buildup.

This overlooked hazard can significantly reduce slip risks inside the workplace during winter months!

โ„๏ธโค๏ธ According to the American Heart Association, heart attack rates can increase by up to 22% during and after heavy snowstorms.

๐ŸšจCold weather and intense physical exertion can put extra strain on your heart, especially if you're not used to heavy activity. Protect yourself this winter with these tips:

โœ… Warm up first: Stretch and walk around to get your blood flowing.
โœ… Take breaks: Shovel small amounts at a timeโ€”pace yourself.
โœ… Push, donโ€™t lift: Use a snow shovel to push snow rather than lifting it.
โœ… Dress warmly: Keep your body warm to reduce the strain on your heart.
โœ… Listen to your body: If you feel chest pain, shortness of breath, or dizziness, stop immediately and seek help.

Stay safe and keep your heart healthy this winter! ๐Ÿ’™โ„๏ธ
