Today in LGBTQ+ History: On June 26th, 2015, the Supreme Court ruling on Obergefell v. Hodges legalized same-sex marriage in the United States.

Jim Obergefell, an American civil rights activist and Ohio native, was named plaintiff in the case. He sought to have his marriage to his late husband, John Arthur, recognized by the state of Ohio so Jim could be listed on his death certificate. Because of Jim's unwavering commitment to honoring his late husband, same-sex couples in the United States have equal marriage rights. Love is love!
