Many Sterling Homes clients choose to build green due to the enormous environmental benefits, and the long-term savings. Building green means maximizing both economic and environmental performance. The Sterling Homes team works together with Green Building Consultants, from the very beginning to take an integrated approach to ensure that the homeowner receives maximum benefits. As a Documentation Specialist, you will complete all research, calculations, and preparation of documentation for Green Building Consulting projects. You will provide supporting materials for green and/or energy efficient building program verification, and you will be required to interface between internal and external project teams to collect raw data for analysis. Documentation specialists gain a thorough understanding of compliance requirements for a range of green building programs. This is an entry level position that has the potential to lead to future roles as a Project Manager and/or energy and green program Field Rater.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Good verbal and written communication skills, including a thorough understanding of proper email etiquette.
Affinity to learning new computer software and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with Sketchup or a similar program is preferable.
Good interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with clients of all types and on all levels of a company structure.
Skilled in internet research and general technology competence.
Ability to work well in an open concept office environment.
Excellent time management and organizational skills. Attention to detail.
Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and recognize/prioritize competing tasks and deadlines.
Ability to research, analyze, and problem solve independently. Self-sufficient and a good self-learner.
Ability and desire to gain expertise in a range of subjects. Enthusiasm for sustainability and green building initiatives.
Basic quantitative reasoning skills.
Positive attitude and exceptional work ethic.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT ARE OF VALUE

Architecture, engineering, or construction experience and/or knowledge.
Knowledge and/or experience with “green” or energy efficiency programs
College degree or green program certification is preferable but not required.
