Candice Jones Peelman sent this image of her small beekeeper who is smoking one of their top-bar hives—-the bees in this hive were a gift this season from Nicola Mason, who returned last year’s favor when Candace shared her bounty with Nicola (and many others!). These are my favorite beekeeping stories.

George took some beautiful pictures yesterday before bees entered his veil. Then we didn’t see George again. But even before George vanished, we’d collected a good bit of gorgeous, raw, unadulterated honey. When we finished, we had twice this much. From now on, we need to carry a bucket and not a bowl to the apiary.
