📣 Big news in reproductive and endocrine health: PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
📣 A change shaped by 14 years of collaboration involving 22,000+ patients, clinicians, and researchers across 6 continents.
📣 Why does this matter?
Because this condition has never been just about ovaries or “cysts.” PMOS better reflects the full-body reality of the condition, including hormonal, metabolic, cardiovascular, mental, and fertility impacts.
📣 What’s changing:
✔️ A name that recognizes the endocrine and metabolic complexity
✔️ Better language for earlier, more accurate diagnosis
✔️ A shift away from ovary-only thinking
✔️ More visibility for the 170 million people living with this condition
📣 What’s not changing:
At the Institute for Reproductive Health, we’ve always treated the full picture, including hormones, metabolism and fertility, and that remains at the center of our care.
And yes, ovarian cysts still exist.
They’re just not what defines this condition.
📣PCOS → PMOS
A name that finally sees the full picture.

"My husband and I tried to conceive for years. We had an ectopic pregnancy resulting in the loss of 1 fallopian tube and discovered the other completely blocked. IVF was our only option for our rainbow baby. We are so thankful for IRH for helping us on our journey! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They gave us the best gift in the world, our miracle boy 🩵 "
