Happy Feast of Saint John Bosco!
He was given the title of Father and teacher of the youth. The girls chose to focus on his role as a “teacher” and patron of school children, picking an apple dish to celebrate him and an Italian style cake to honor his Italian heritage.

Enjoy this delicious apple cake and have fun

Jules and her friend are going to try to take over some of our Catholic memory making projects for us while life is a bit busy.

They chose to celebrate Pope St. Sylvester for their first baking activity. His feast day is Dec 31. He is a patron of domestic animals, harvests, stonemasons and builders.

They chose Strawberry Maritozzi because Maritozzi are an iconic Italian sweet bun dating all the way back to Ancient Rome when simpler, larger loaves were made as food for laborers. The strawberry version seemed festive and celebratory and the strawberry slices resemble a bishop’s mitre that St. Sylvester would have worn as bishop of Rome!

We’ll post the recipe in the comments so you can enjoy these delicious buns and have fun !
