Springboard Biodiesel

Springboard Biodiesel recently sold, installed and commissioned equipment on the island of Tahiti for the local waste collection company known as TSP (Tahitienne de Secteurs Publics). The company is well known on the big island for collecting trash, recyclables and yard waste and now they're moving into the biodiesel-made-from-used-cooking-oil space. There's an abundance of used cooking oil available at hotels and restaurants on the island - all are more than happy to get rid of it, enabling TSP to legitimately boast they're keeping the air clean while saving money on fuel for their heavy diesel fleet.

Dorking out here:
In addition to the fact that any group that can collect used cooking oil at no cost, will make biodiesel in the Springboard equipment for $1.12/gallon, there is also a CO2 emissions savings.
We know that on a life-cycle basis, diesel fuel has a high carbon footprint. One gallon of diesel fuel emits 22.38 pounds of CO2. (Source: https://www.vcalc.com/wiki/MichaelBartmess/Carbon+Dioxide+per+Gallon+Diesel )
We also know that biodiesel made from used cooking oil emits approximately 86.5% less CO2 in its life cycle than regular diesel. (source : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8ugjjmMKEU )
Therefore, for every gallon of diesel fuel that is displaced by biodiesel, 19.36 lbs of CO2 are kept out of the atmosphere.
If any restaurant or food producer were to make 200 gallons of fuel per day, this would result in keeping 3,872 lbs of CO2 out of the atmosphere per day or 1,355,200 lbs per year during a 350 day work year. Over the course of 20 years that would be β¦a lot of CO2.
