Relying solely on 1:1 clinical hours can create significant logistical friction when managing time-zone shifts and travel days.
To build a truly stable, location-independent practice, consider diversifying into non-clinical revenue streams that leverage your master’s or doctorate degree:
• Clinical Supervision: Supporting associate-level therapists remotely (where state boards permit).
• Continuing Education: Designing peer-reviewed CEU courses for other practitioners or organizations.
• Specialized Consulting: Translating psychological concepts into frameworks for organizations or tech platforms.
There are a host of other ways to utilize clinical knowledge in settings outside of clinical therapy.
Diversification protects revenue, prevents clinical burnout, and provides the scheduling flexibility required to move freely and decide how and where life happens.

Respectfully... having a therapist office address is not your superpower.
While the traditional office or agency route has worked lovely for many therapists, this is only a reminder it is not the only way.
Sure, social media can make location independence look like a never-ending vacation.
Sure, the therapy world can make it seem like working from or living abroad is impossible.
The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
You can care deeply about clients AND still want more freedom or flexibility.
You can be committed to your work AND curious about the world.
You can build a thriving practice AND a fulfilling life.
The two are not competing goals.
This carousel is for the therapist who keeps wondering:
“What if there’s another way?”
Not because your current life is bad. It is because you are finally giving yourself permission to imagine something different.
💫The handy guides available in the link are designed to make the process clearer.

Respectfully... some of the beliefs keeping therapists from exploring location independence deserve another look. 👀
Many think (because we are taught) that private practice must look a certain way.
-A physical office.
-A fixed location.
-A career built around staying put.
While that path works beautifully for many therapists, it is not the only path.
The biggest barriers are not always regulations, technology, or logistics (these are important factors too).
Sometimes the barriers are the stories we have accepted as facts.
✨ “I’ll lose my clients.”
✨ “I won’t be taken seriously.”
✨ “Wanting more freedom means I’m less committed.”
✨ “That’s for other therapists, not me.”
Respectfully... says who?
Respectfully… those are limiting beliefs. We remind clients about limiting beliefs and must also recognize them within as well.
One of the most needed lessons from living and working internationally has been realizing that impact is not tied to geography.
Clients do not benefit from a therapist’s zip code. They benefit from a therapist’s presence, expertise, and commitment to the work.
Honestly, creating a life that feels aligned has made me an even more intentional therapist, not less.
This carousel is not about convincing anyone or everyone to work abroad.
It is about reminding therapists that there are additional possibilities available than realized.
If it is not for you, then it’s not for you… and that’s ok.
💫If it is for you, let’s talk or grab the Location-independent Private Practice toolkit.

✨Start before you are “ready”. There is no perfect time, and if you wait long enough to start a goal or vision , you may never start.
✨Build virtual systems
✨Strengthen referral networks
✨Learn licensing requirements
