Leading the 'Art of the Pitch' is Chicago native Jacqueline 'JJ' Ingram. With over a decade of experience, JJ will be sharing her deep knowledge on what it takes to pitch a film and get it funded. Her films have screened at Sundance, SXSW, Traverse City Film Festival, BAMCinemaFest, Chicago International Film Festival and been distributed by Magnolia, The Orchard, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Orchard, and Samuel Goldwyn Films.

Our AMA Director is SABRINA LASSEGUE! The sky is the limit for this inspiring woman. Not only is she a director... she's an actress, producer, writer, as well as the founder and head of her production company Yellow Rain Productions. She trained at the American Musical Dramatic Academy for acting. Lassegue is best known for her award winning short film on human trafficking, "For the Taken". As a black woman in film, she believes in doing everything it takes to provide the world with good, meaningful story telling, while providing the representation the world deserves to see. As if she didn't seem busy enough, she also runs her TikTok where she gives important insight into the industry and details her filmmaking journey. Sabrina was recently signed as a director and we'll be talking about all this and more in one short week.

Our friend Imani shared this article with us and after reading it the message is clear. WE NEED MORE WOMEN & NON BINARY PEOPLE IN FILM. The numbers are on the decline and it's unacceptable. Here's a snippet:
"The USC Annenberg report found that of the 111 directors hired to make the 100 top-grossing movies last year, just 9% were women. That was down from 12.7% in 2021. At the same time, the number of Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino and multi-racial and multi-ethnic moviemakers also fell from 27.3% in 2021 to 20.7% in 2022. Women of color accounted for a mere 2.7% of directors of the top 100 movies last year. The declines come as the movie business, and particularly the major studios that call the shots, have been under pressure to provide more opportunities to female artists and people of color in the wake of social justice and advocacy movements such as and .
