Have you ever wondered how your brakes can squeek if they have been inspected and they're NOT worn out? The answer is due to the fact that a squeek can be caused by the brake pad vibrating, much like a guitar string emitting a noise inspired by the pluck of a finger or a guitar pic. Why are my pads vibrating? Well, one possibility is that the sharp edge of the pad is coming into abrupt contact with the brake rotor much like a fingernail on a chalkboard. If this is the case, grinding a 40 degree chamfer on the edge of the brake pad may solve the problem.
