Manual Car Driving – Gears & Clutch Control 👇
1. ABC of Car Pedals
A → Accelerator (Race) – Rightmost pedal, used to increase speed.
B → Brake – Middle pedal, used to slow down/stop.
C → Clutch – Leftmost pedal, used to change gears & control engine power.
2. Clutch Control
The clutch connects or disconnects the engine from the wheels.
Fully Pressed Clutch → Engine disconnected from wheels (safe to change gears).
Half-Clutch → Car moves slowly without pressing accelerator (useful in traffic & slopes).
Released Clutch → Engine power fully reaches wheels, car moves freely.
⚠️ If you release the clutch suddenly, car may jerk or stall.
3. Gear Shifting Basics
Manual cars usually have 5 forward gears + Reverse.
1st Gear (0–10 km/h) → For moving from standstill, steep climbs.
2nd Gear (10–20 km/h) → For slow speed traffic, turns.
3rd Gear (20–35 km/h) → Normal city driving.
4th Gear (35–45 km/h) → Smooth cruising.
5th Gear (45+ km/h) → High speed, highways.
Reverse Gear → For moving backward (use only when fully stopped).
4. Steps to Start & Move the Car
Press clutch fully + press brake.
Start engine with key/button.
Shift to 1st gear.
Slowly release clutch till you feel car moving (called biting point).
Gently press accelerator while fully releasing clutch.
Increase speed → change to higher gears (always press clutch while changing).
5. Stopping the Car
Release accelerator.
Press brake gradually.
Before speed drops too much, press clutch fully (to avoid stalling).
Shift to neutral gear and release clutch.
✅ Golden Rule: Clutch down → Gear change → Clutch up slowly with accelerator.
