Breaking the Cycle: Supporting Children of Incarcerated Parents
As someone who was once part of the statistics—growing up in Illinois during some of the most critical developmental years—I know firsthand how living with an incarcerated parent can shape a child's future.
Many children face trauma, instability, and emotional pain, often without the support they desperately need. I’m sharing my story not to dwell on the past, but to highlight an urgent need: we must do more to help at-risk children thrive.
Children of incarcerated parents are often overlooked, yet they carry the weight of a broken system and broken homes. They deserve stability, love, and the mental health support necessary to heal and break free from cycles of hardship.
The Angie Affect was born out of the passing of our mother Angela Holbrook, to honor her legacy and to highlight the importance of family, spirit, and sowing into our communities. It’s about creating a ripple effect of love, hope, and healing—especially
for children who need it most.
We started this nonprofit to help children
who are currently navigating life without their parents. But we can’t do it alone.
If you believe in second chances, healing, and breaking generational curses, please consider supporting this cause. Your help can give these children hope, stability, and the opportunity to build a different future.
Together, we can build stronger communities where no child is left behind because of circumstances beyond their control. 💙✨
