CPS Arts
ACVA Elementary appreciation post! One of the highlights of every school year is witnessing students see their artwork in a museum. Thank you to our partners at the Design Museum of Chicago and to all of the parents and teachers who submitted work on behalf of their students. The youth artist community in Chicago is so strong in no small part because of you!
Last week, the Department of Arts hosted our 4th annual Dance and Movement Summer Series! Led by our Dance Content Specialist, M.K. Victorson, our Arts Teacher Leaders, and our partners at the Newberry Library, participants engaged in daily learning sessions centered in movement. We enjoyed Ballroom Dance, Bachata, West African Fusion, Dunham technique, and a choreography workshop inspired by the Dance Education Laboratory. We are thrilled to have hosted over 20 educators, representing dance, math, special education, and world language. We thank our ATLs, Evelyn Sanchez, Diana Muhammad, Kelly McCaffery, Isabelle Collazo-Sifuentes and Luewilla Smith-Barnett for bringing their brilliance and creativity to this event. Seen here are photos from series days 1 and 2 at Back of the Yards College Prep High School.
