Previews start tomorrow, so here’s another sneak peek at what we have going on backstage at Two Out of Three Falls. Gina Montalvo has returned to The Factory after creating unnerving grunge-era soundscapes for our Season 31 opener, The Sporting Life. “Two Out of Three Falls is rooted in the blend of found audio of wrestling matches throughout history, recorded sound within the world of the play, and punk influences, weaving together U.S. and Puerto Rican sonic worlds and adding haunting layers.”
Asked what attracted her to this project, Gina says, “The script highlights the complexities of legacy and grudges. I think Johanna is such a dynamic character and you watch her lose parts of herself without her realizing until she’s in the midst of it. It’s something where, even if you’re not a huge wrestling fan, you feel her on a human level. The spectacle and theatre of wrestling is also such a draw for me and Bill’s writing captures that beautifully.”
