Legat Architects: Sustainability Performance Design

Today, we honor Juneteenth and the long journey toward freedom and equality.

We recognize the resilience and contributions of the Black community within our firm, across our communities, and throughout our nation.

Our Chicago studio once again participated in ZeroLandfill Chicago's annual drop-off. The event encourages designers and manufacturers to drop off unused materials: tile, laminate, glass, brick, fabric, wood, etc. The organization then opens its warehouse to teachers, artists, and other creative types to take samples for free. This year, the Legat team donated five wagons full of boxed samples.

“It’s a great way we as architects and interior designers can reduce what goes into landfills,” said Aileen Everitt, who has coordinated Legat contributions several times.
