Who’s ready for our Asian American 101 Book Club tonight? 🤓
We’ll be reading Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H between now and August! Preface and Part I for tonight’s conversation. Excited to be in such a vibrant community of readers, digging into these stories from across our communities. If you haven’t yet checked out our Asian American 101 Book Club, we meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm to discuss the month’s reading. We do ask that you try to purchase your copy of the book from us, on bookshop.org, or Extra bonus points that it’s facilitated by the incredible 👏🤓
See y’all soon!
What do we do with beautiful spring days? We take a trip to our favorite neighborhood bookshop, naturally. Not only is it supposed to rain on Sunday, but we’re closed on Sundays too- so be sure to stop in today and tomorrow so you have something to read while listening to the Sunday rains 📖🍵😎
💛 Food Pantry is restocked for anyone in the community- take what you need, share what you can. Dispensa de alimentos ya está llena, lleva lo que necesita y deja lo que puede 💛
And make sure you stop by tomorrow morning between 11AM-1PM to celebrate Yuri Kochiyama and Malcolm X’s birthdays with our friends at & ! Free tickets linked in our bio. Story times, activities, gifts, and cake- geared toward youth, open to the whole community.
See you when y’all get here!

Hey friends,
Dad life called today, and I’m staying home with a pair of kiddos that are feeling under the weather. Sorry that we won’t be there to chat and get you some new books to read today, but parenting comes first.
I’ll be back in the shop tomorrow (Friday the 22nd). Don’t forget to get your free tickets to our Saturday event focused on young folks (but open to all) celebrating the birthdays of Yuri Kochiyama and El-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz/Malcolm X- linked in our bio!
Come through and help us clear these shelves Friday and Saturday!
🖖🤓💛
Hi friends,
First things first- Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month ✊
To add to the celebrations, come through Saturday 5/15 (aka tomorrow) at 2 PM!
We are excited to celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month in conversation with local author- !
His debut novel, Leverage, will be available for purchase at the event. This book is a wild ride, great for folks who enjoy a satirical look at the world of finance, capitalism, and corruption with a dash of biracial wolf of wall street-esque vibes and solid 90’s hip hop playlist.
For friends of the shop, you’ve definitely heard me talk about this one and this is your chance to hear from the author himself.

Hey Friends!
Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday at 3pm we’ll be hosting our Silent Reading Club! Bring a book, a bev, and a friend- we’ll put on some lo-fi and read together.
If you don’t have a book, show up a little early and we’ll help make sure you find your next favorite read.
Silent reading 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM, and the last 15 minutes can be talking to a neighbor about what y’all are reading or trying to finish out that chapter. This is a good chance to work on those book club books and meet new folks.
See y’all on Saturday!

Hey friends,
We will be closed today, as is our custom, in solidarity with work stoppages and in celebration of May Day. For folks looking to join today’s rally and march with a bookish crew, we’ll be out with our friends from & alongside library workers and others near Ogden & Randolph in Union Park at 1pm.
May Day is also the start of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month- it’s our season, y’all!! Asian American identity is deeply rooted in solidarity and making noise, so getting out today is a great way to celebrate our communities.
We’ll see you out in the streets today and back at the shop tomorrow ✊🖖🤓
I’m not tired, you’re tired! 😂 (it’s me, I’m the tired one)
We’re ready for in the morning! The tables are set, the books are shelved, and exclusives are placed. We’ve got our friends from and .studio popping up with us here tomorrow. Whose reading space couldn’t use a little more art and plant? We’re also hosting friends from Oh! The Hugh Manatees with a chance to support bodily autonomy through delicious baked goods!
See y’all here from 9AM-7PM tomorrow, Saturday April 25!

Sorry friends!
Parenting life has us closed today and we’ll also be hosting an exciting event with this evening so regular shop stuff won’t be happening today. BUT!
We’re so stoked for Independent Bookstore Day this Saturday! We’ve got special hours (9AM - 7PM) AND some special guests joining us. You don’t want to miss the fun!
And since it’s Indie Bookstore Spirit Week and the algorithm needs evidence- yes, we were rocking plaid on Tuesday and on Wednesdays we wear bookstore-adjacent shirts 🤓🖖

Sorry friends.
Whatever I came down with over the weekend wants me to stay in and rest another day. I was looking forward to being open today but I guess we’ll have to flood the system with teas, ginger, soups, and honey so I can be back for Wednesday. 😷
