Veteran Tejano musician Jaime DeAnda was arrested over the weekend in connection with an ongoing legal dispute involving the use of the name "Jaime y Los Chamacos".

According to reports, DeAnda was taken into custody Saturday on a warrant issued out of Jim Wells County and was booked into the Brooks County Jail. Court records indicate the warrant stemmed from his failure to appear at a May 19, 2026, hearing before Judge Rumaldo Solis regarding a Motion for Enforcement and Contempt of Court.

Authorities initially held DeAnda on a $5,000 cash bond while arrangements were made to transfer him to Jim Wells County. He was later released after posting bond.

Court filings allege that DeAnda continued promoting performances and booking events under the "Jaime y Los Chamacos" name despite court orders restricting his use of the trademark. The filings further claim that he continued presenting himself as the rightful owner of the name, an issue that has fueled years of litigation.

According to a statement previously released by Los Chamacos, a trial held on August 12, 2025, in Jim Wells County Court at Law resulted in the court awarding ownership and exclusive rights to both names to Roel Joslin.

As part of the judgment, Joslin was reportedly awarded ownership of the business names along with $250,000 in damages. The ruling also permanently prohibited DeAnda from claiming ownership of or commercially using the name "Jaime y Los Chamacos".
