As Chicago thaws 🫠 I’m reflective.
Grateful to for showcasing two of my pieces. It was a blast. 🙌🏾
I get so immersed in connected conversations 🌊 that I forget to document the journey, not just the beginning of an event, but everything in between.
Maybe being that present is part of the art too.
I’ll capture more on the next go round. Onward and upward. 🫶🏾

We can all use a bit of positive and impactful news that liberates our lives. And amid a global pandemic, civil unrest, and racial tensions around the world, I created this commemorative piece as a mere gesture to represent the first national acknowledgment of Juneteenth in the U.S. In this piece, an African American boy clings to a wagon wheel in jubilance as he shares the news to African and Indigenous slaves, now pronounced "free," on June 19th, 1865, in Galveston, TX.
